Tintern Furnace

Simon Reames Archaeology has been involved in a research dig uncovering impressive remains at Tintern Furnace that include a multiphase structure, leats and features associated with the iron working.  Keep checking back for the latest updates!

Caerleon

Simon Reames Archaeology has completed numerous archaeological investigations in Caerleon.

One of our most interesting was a watching brief just south of the Roman fort of Isca Silurum/Augusta where we recovered a number of clay tiles bearing the stamp 'LEG II AVG' ([Property of] the Second Augustan Legion) including a brand new stamp never before seen in the archaeological record!

St Tysoi Church

Simon Reames Archaeology completed an evaluation at St Tysoi's Church were we successfully located a structure depicted on early maps.

Background research for the report discovered that the structure was also the original rectory for the church prior to its destruction when a new rectory was constructed slightly further afield.
